It was a nice trip yesterday and all the pilots seem happy after a day off. Its back to business now and everyone is on the way to takeoff.

Its very windy in Aksaray today - as a result the day has been cancelled.

Shuttles will leave HQ at 0945 for a sight seeing tour taking in a nearby canyon, underground city and as many other local attractions as they can manage. They will also leave HQ at 1830 for a pilot dinner this evening.

We will reassess the weather tomorrow morning

The forecast shows increasing wind over the next few days so we will be looking to make the best task we can today - after today it could get stronger (but its a forecast and we all know how reliable they can be).

Pilots will be leaving HQ at 0900 and we should have task details at about 11:30 - keep watching

What a long day. The commentary said it all so - the final pilot is now back and the results have been posted and are online now.

Buses leave HQ at 0900 tomorrow morning.

Day 3 of the Aksaray event is here and its looking lovely in the sky. The pilots left 30 mins earlier this morning (at 0900) and are all on the way to the takeoff.

Event 5 of the Paragliding World Cup is now beginning in sunny Aksaray in central Turkey. Registration was completed last night and everything is ready for day 1 to begin. The buses to takeoff will be leaving the headquarters at 09:30

Paragliding World Cup - Event 5 - Aksaray, Turkey

The next Paragliding World Cup will take place, for the first time ever, in Aksaray, Turkey from the 8th to 15th of September.

With mega thermals and a Super Final place in mind for many, this promises to be a very exciting competition. It is the last leg of the 2018 season and the final chance to get a top 15 place, or top 3 ladies place, for automatic selection to the ultimate paragliding competition, the World Cup Super Final in Baixo Guandu in 2019.

The pilots will be taking off from the slopes of Hasan Dagi, a 3270m dormant volcano. Apart from the mountain the take off is on, the terrain is mainly flat with small hills and some impressive gorges. The flying here is technical, switching gears often being the key to success.With 14 Turkish pilots taking part let's hope we can see a Turkish pilot on the podium for the first time, but the level is, once again, going to be extremely high.

Eight overall World Cup winners are taking part including the only pilot ever to have won both the Super Final and the World championships: Charles Cazaux. 3 lady's winners will be competing including the petite, but formidable, Seiko Fukuoka Naville.

Also taking part are the young and not so young from the World of acro: newbie Jack Pimblett and three times World Cup winner, Felix Rodriguez.

French pilots participating include task winner in the last World Cup in Sopot, Bulgaria, Rémi Bourdelle and just back from the Himalayas, Damien Lacaze. Also flying in from the Himalayas, father of Indian paragliding, Gurpreet Dhindsa.Here to entertain us, as always, will be Bulgaria's pink panther, Yassen Savov, hoping to pounce on a Super Final place.

Six Pre World Cup winners will also be taking to the skies above Hasan Dagi hoping to graduate onto the World Cup podium.

Last, but by no means least, making his World Cup debut is Tanguy Renaud-Goud, winner of the Pre World Cup in Clopotiva, Romania and the 2018 Airtour.

Also of note, Michal Sneiberg will be flying the UP RFC (Ready for Certification) glider, an initiative which has been a great success now for almost a year.
