The final pilots are back and the results are now processed and available onlline.

The Paragliding World Cup would like to congratulate the winners of this competition - Gleb SUKHOTSKIY (Open Class), Méryl DELFERRIERE (Women) and team Ozone.

The next event to be covered on the website will, unusually, be a pre-world cup (Cameli - Turkey) since the World Cup team are operating this event. The next full Paragliding World Cup event follows that in Aksaray - Turkey and begins on 8th September.

FOR TRANSPORT TO SOPHIA AIRPORT - we have a number of pilots on the list who have not yet paid and also some more people enquiring about transport. If you are in either group please come to HQ as soon as possible and speak with Simon. We need to arrange enough vehicles but if you are not paid early this evening they will not be able to guarantee your seat

It was quite a procession - along the mountains and back again - in the end we had 109 pilots in goal. The retrieve was quite brief and everybody is now back here.

Day 6 and the weather is staying friendly - its a lovely morning, hazy but looking promising. The transports are moving pilots and gliders to the chairlift and everyone is on the way to takeoff.

Its the fifth day of the competition and the weather looks like it's similar to the last few days - there are storms mentioned in the forecast but nothing is certain in paragliding.

Transport will be leaving HQ at 0800 tomorrow morning for pilots and gliders - this is to ensure that everyone is ready with their glider unloaded for a very quick briefing at 0900 and then heading for launch - please be on time

Paragliding World Cup Sopot, Bulgaria 19/08/2018 - 25/08/2018.

The next World Cup will take place in Sopot, Bulgaria 19/08/2018 - 25/08/2018. Taking part, Helmut Eichholzer who won the last World Cup held at Sopot in 2008 and Jurij Vidic, hoping to make it two World Cup victories in a row, having won the most recent World Cup, in Gemona, Italy.
Top Bulgarian pilot, and ex European Champion, Yassen Savov, who knows this area very well, will definitely be one to watch and keep up with if you can, along with young British Pilot and 2018 European Champion, Theo Warden.
Two other outstanding young pilots to try and keep up with will be Loïs Goutagny, 4th in Bright, Australia and Simon Mettetal, 4th in Baixo Guandu, Brazil (his first ever World Cup).
World Cup winners in waiting, who will be trying to outsmart and out experience the youngsters are former British Champions Alex Coltman, Guy Anderson and Craig Morgan.
From the far, far north there are two very colourful characters who took their first Super Final (2017) by storm. Hans Kristjan Gudmundsson, won task 5 hands down. Jouni Makkonen, for whom the Super Final was his first ever World Cup and who has won the Bright Open, in Australia, every year since Finnish pilots were allowed to compete, will also be worth keeping an eye on in Sopot.
Also taking part from the famous paragliding family Lambert: Baptiste Lambert and Dad Cyril Lambert.
Felipe Rezende will be flying the Flow Paragliders RFC XCRacer.
Also on an RFC wing will be Michal Sneiberg flying the UP Proto.
